Police in Kisoro District have arrested three of their own officers after a resident was fatally shot during an operation connected to the recovery of a stolen motorcycle.
The victim, identified as Hassan Mwijuke, a 26-year-old boda boda rider from Gafuruzo Parish in Nyarubuye Sub-county, was shot during an encounter with the officers as they pursued a motorcycle reportedly stolen from Mbarara.
Police authorities confirmed that the three officers suspected to have been involved in the incident have been taken into custody to allow for thorough investigations into the circumstances that led to the shooting.
